Alextra Director Shawn Gallimore, who was one of the eight skydivers said:

"This is one of the most amazing experiences I have had the pleasure to be a part of!

The whole team had such a fantastic time. There was a great sense of spirit and camaraderie amongst us and even the spectators who came to show their support.

The MRI Scanner Appeal is a great cause and it makes the whole experience worthwhile knowing we are supporting the local community. I on behalf of Alextra would like to thank everyone who has shown their support through donations and well wishes, it is very much appreciated."

Laura Riddle a representative for Mid Cheshire Hospitals said:

"I would like to sincerely thank the Alextra Accountants team for taking on this fantastic and very brave challenge in support of our MRI Scanner Appeal. It is wonderful to receive such support from a local business, particularly at this stage in the appeal, and thanks to them we are now even closer to our target."

The Sky Is The Limit For Alextra Accountants

Alextra Accountants are setting their sights on the skies as eight members of their team will be skydiving from 10,000 feet in aid of the MRI Scanner Appeal for Leighton Hospital.

The sky is the limit for the eight brave team members, who are taking to the sky on the 23 April 2016 to raise money for the local hospital. Progress on the jump can be followed via Alextra Accountants social media pages - Facebook and Twitter. Donations can be made on their Just Giving Page at: https://www.justgiving.com/AlextraSkydive

One of the eight jumpers, Director Shawn Gallimore comments: "The MRI Scanner Appeal is a great cause to be a part of. Being a Crewe-based company, we wanted to do something that could positively impact the local community.

We were looking for a challenge that would push all of us out of our comfort zone. Me personally being a self-professed adrenaline junky, was more than willing to accept this challenge. It was also a great excuse to do something adventurous, what with turning 40 this year!

We have an amazing team here at Alextra and I am looking forward to completing the jump along with seven others. "

Alextra's 57 Ways To Grow Your Business

Alextra Accountants have launched their very own book, 57 Ways To Grow Your Business.

After having launched other publications such as the Alextra New Business Kit, designed to cover all the financial, tax and accounting consideration of starting a new business, the firm now wants to help businesses realise what aspects it takes to grow a business, maintain profitability and strengthen their position in the market.

Director Keith Knight comments: "Very few things will be more important to people as an entrepreneur, than the future wellbeing of their business. Even though people may be in a strong position currently, things can and do change. The question is, how can people maximise their potential to stay profitable, as well as look to strengthen their current position?

Our book provides 57 actions for people to consider, ranging from the creation of a business plan to the rejection of industry compromises. We believe that by following some of the ideas in the book, people will improve their performance and grow their businesses.

We hope to assist individuals and businesses alike in the local area and those surrounding. Our book has a recommended retail price of £14.99, but we are offering these free of charge and available upon request until 31 October 2015."

Alextra's Shawn Gallimore Talks about the Budget 2015

Chancellor George Osborne delivered his sixth and final Budget on 18th March 2015. We sat down with Alextra Director, Shawn Gallimore to ask him a few questions about this year's Budget.

From the Budget 2015, what do you think will impact most upon, not just Alextra clients, but businesses and individuals alike?

I think the abolition of the annual Tax Return will have a big effect on all unincorporated clients in particular. The intention is to give taxpayers greater control over their tax affairs, giving them the ability to review their affairs using a computer, tablet or smartphone, bringing the tax system up to date.

Whilst the intention is meant to simplify, it will mean up to date information being constantly maintained and different institutions linking directly to HMRC. Implementation of this will involve a huge amount of infrastructure that will need to be put in place.

Are some of the policies being introduced designed to sway voters ahead of the next election?

Yes, as expected! The Chancellor has offered positive and tangible policies for voters to focus on in the run up the General Election. Lower taxes on savings and alcohol, pension reforms, and help for first time buyers. Good enough to sway the votes in time for May, we will soon find out.

What would be your number one priority if you were conducting the budget?

I would ensure that UK businesses are given all the help and support that they need, to be able to continue to help stimulate the economic growth in the UK.

I would make it easier for UK businesses to export abroad and introduce measures to be able to promote UK businesses throughout the world. My priority would be to fly the flag for the UK.

Alextra Group Selfie for Red Nose Day

Friday the 13th March 2015 saw Comic Reliefs annual Red Nose Day. At work, school or at home, individuals and businesses alike raised money for the British charity, which helps to transform the lives of millions of people, both at home in the UK and across Africa.

Staff at Alextra Accountants took part, all sporting one of this year's Comic Relief, "Nose In A Bag" for a group selfie. Nine new noses were designed this year, each in their own surprise bag. Sadly no one at Alextra won the Gold Day experience, but with the purchase of the noses, 60p went straight to the Charity. In addition to this, Alextra made their own donation to help with the Charity's cause.

Supporting Local Students in Fundraising Event

Zac Brightmore of Alsager High School is being sent to Cape Town, South Africa this April, with the Alsager Football Club (AFC), to work with local communities to help them create sport and academic facilities for the children of the local towns to use.

The trip is organised via HQ Coaching who work in many underprivileged communities. HQC are currently working on a project called Engage 4 South Africa, which has now been running since 2010. The projects aim is to promote sport and health to children and give young people the opportunity to gain valuable coaching and teaching experience.

Zac has been accepted onto the project after expressing his interest, completing a fund raising planner and successful interviews with Senior Staff. The target of the group as a whole is £7,500 and Alextra are happy to be supporting Zac and the group by making a donation to help send the team to South Africa.

We Are Attending Xerocon 2015

With the transformative nature of the accounting industry many businesses are moving to the cloud. Why? Because it increases efficiency, helps improve cashflow and offers business owners flexibility to be able to access their files from any computer or device, anywhere and at any time. The cloud makes a difference in how businesses work, bank, communicate, sell and buy.

We want to be able to support our clients with innovative and practical ideas for running and managing a business with the cloud. On this basis, we are attending Xerocon 2015.

Xerocon has grown to become one of the biggest events in the accounting industry. It is a coming together of professionals, to further enhance productivity and services. A number of our Accountants are attending the two day conference held in London this week, to learn more about Xero and Cloud Computing, to help evolve our clients businesses to the next level in 2015.

We will be helping clients by bringing their financials to their fingertips. Easy to use and connected to the banks and built in the cloud. Xero will help revolutionise businesses, with real time access, to what they need when they need it.

Starting 2015 With Continued Growth & Expansion Of The Alextra Team

With the continued growth and expansion of the Alextra Team, we have appointed Caroline Matthews as Accounts Senior. Caroline will be working closely with the Directors and Managers to help provide high value services to the Alextra Clients. We have taken some time to catch up with Caroline after letting her settle in on her first week.

Hi Caroline, could you explain to us how you will be helping Alextra clients?

I have come to Alextra as an Accounts Senior, to help support the Account Managers and work closely with clients on the services they take out. I have a great deal of experience, having worked for 7 years within accountancy practices and being fully ACCA qualified. I believe I can assist clients not only with the traditional services, but help them to utilize opportunities and gain real value from their businesses.

You mentioned that you are ACCA qualified and have seven years' experience working in other firms, what were your previous roles?

I have worked in two other practices, both based in Kent. I originally started out as a trainee whilst completing my qualification. I would help to complete accounts, tax returns, VAT returns, and management accounts, all helping me to gain experience and become fully qualified. The second firm I worked for, I was the Audit Senior which enabled me to further develop the skills I already had.

What do you like to do outside of work?

I have a young family, so a lot of my time is spent with them. But I have been very active in organizing fundraising events for a local nursery over the last year. This saw me arranging race and bingo nights, cake sales and our most popular event was a Peppa Pig Day.

Business is all about learning from your mistakes and moving on, what have you learnt from in your career?

I think that it is important to keep going and however cheesy this sounds, just keep moving forward.

Obviously you have a wealth of experience in Accounts helping and supporting businesses, what has been your most memorable client moment that you've had?

I really enjoy going out to meet clients, so even though it isn't directly a client success story, my most memorable moment is going out to a paper factory. They let me get thoroughly involved, from wearing their gear, assisting with the printing, seeing all the machines and meeting all the employees. It was a fantastic day and was really impressive to see what goes into their business. Meeting clients lets me have a better insight into the business than I would receive sitting behind a desk.

How can people contact you?

I can be reached on the main office number, 01270 250800, or my email is, caroline.matthews@alextragroup.co.uk
